Elwood Stapleton

WEST COLUMBIA- Elwood “Woody” Stapleton, 71, of West Columbia, SC, formerly of Columbus, Ohio passed away Friday, February 1, 2013.

Born in Kentucky, January 16, 1942, he was the son of the late Earl and Ruth (Clark) Stapleton. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Clifford (Margaret Ford) Stapleton. He is survived by Tammy, his loving wife of 31 years. With fond and loving memories, he has left many life lessons with his children: Karen (Ryan) Stair, Parkersburg, WV; Lori (Jerald) Hesson, Ravenswood, WV; James (Veronica) Stapleton, Columbus, OH; Nicole (Juan) Blas, W. Columbia, SC and Kelly Stapleton, Columbia, SC and his precious grandsons, Nathan Hesson, Elijah Blas, Joshua Hesson, Logan Stapleton.

Woody was a wise, gentle, and kind man. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a dear friend to many. He was a retired Industrial Electrician (Dixie-Narco & Spirax-Sarco), could fix almost anything, and loved spending time with family and friends, especially camping, fishing and riding motorcycles. Woody has gone home to be with Our Lord, and will be missed greatly.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 5, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel. A Memorial Service will be conducted on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Officiating will be his brother-in-law, Rev. Dr. Robert Muncy.
