Gale is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Robert “Skeeter” Meetze; her daughters, DeeAnn Jones and her husband, Brad Jones, and Bregetta Green; her beloved grandchildren, Tori Cowell and her husband, Greg Cowell, Stefen Singletary, Taylor Swiney, and Terrieanne Betterly and her husband, Kyle Betterly; and her precious great-grandchildren, Avery, RG, Caius, Addison, Wylder, and Barrett.
Gale graduated from Airport High School and went on earning her cosmetology license. Later, she and her husband owned a business together remodeling homes, where they had the privilege of helping turn other people's dreams into reality.
Throughout their marriage, Gale and her husband shared a love of traveling and experienced many wonderful places together. Their travels were an important part of their life both before and after retirement, giving them countless adventures, stories, and memories to share with one another and their family.
But Gale's greatest legacy cannot be measured by where she worked, the places she traveled, or even the number of years she lived. It is found in the family she leaves behind.
She gave her family so much more than being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She gave them unconditional love, advice, strength, and, most importantly, the ability to truly be a family. Her love was a constant—something her family knew they could depend upon throughout every season of life.
Her grandchildren will forever remember the words she so often used to remind them just how much they were loved: “I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck.” Those words will now carry an even deeper meaning and will continue to be passed down through the generations of the family she loved so dearly.
A graveside service will be held Friday, October 9, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Southland Memorial Gardens, 700 W. Dunbar Road, West Columbia, South Carolina 29170.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Rainbow Restoration Charity Golf Classic, in Gale's memory and in honor of her beloved granddaughter, Tori Cowell, who continues her courageous battle with breast cancer. www.rainbowcharitygolf.com
Gale's life will continue through the family she helped create, the love she gave so freely, and the generations who will carry her memory forward.
