Mrs. Sturkie loved people. She was a quiet woman most of the time. You always knew where you stood and where she stood. She attended USC in Aiken and earned her Registered Nurse degree (this with seven children). She was the head nurse for Vocational Rehab where she earned many awards. She loved to bowl and travel.
She is survived by sons, Harry and Earl Sturkie of Lexington; daughters, Cyndi (O’Neal) Green of Pelion, Tina (Allen) Heyward of Lexington and Glenda Sturkie of Montana; brothers, Calvin (Leola) Ballington of Atlanta, Edward Ballington, Ray (Wanda) Ballington and numerous grandchildren, great grand and great great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her sister, Norma Sweatman of Charleston; husband, James W. Sturkie; sons, Steve and Jerrell Sturkie of Lexington and grandson, James Harry Sturkie, Jr.

I will not use names because I may leave someone off. Thank you so much to Carolina Gardens of Lexington, SC. Your facility was home to our mom for the last 4 ½ years. Hospice, you are great. All of your efforts and teamwork helped tremendously with her transition from this life to the next. May the Lord be with you and keep you; may he make his face to shine upon you; may he give you peace.
