Mr. Powell retired from South Carolina Department of Corrections. He was a member of the American Legion Cayce Post 130 and Springdale Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen Powell; son, Eddie Powell (Melissa); granddaughter, Tori Powell; brothers, Hallie Powell (Pat), Roger Powell (Cindy); and sister, Deloris Powell.
Mr. Powell was predeceased by sisters, Mary Whisenant (Olin), Debbie Pender (Eddie); and brother,
Travis Powell (Marlene).
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on June 29, 2021 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel, 820 West Dunbar Road, West Columbia, SC 29170 with visitation one hour before the service. Pallbearers are Ronnie Hill, Wayne Whisenant, Matt McMillan, Phil Johnson, Bob Hitt and Ray Hitt. Interment will follow at Southland Memorial Gardens, 700 West Dunbar Road, West Columbia, SC 29170. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or online at www.stjude.org.
