Jean Livingston

GASTON - Jean Poole Livingston, 78, of Gaston died Tuesday, October 25, 2016, after an extended illness.

Mrs. Livingston was born on February 14, 1938 in Swansea to the late E.H. and Sue Shumpert Poole. Mrs. Livingston will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a sweet spirit who loved unselfishly. She was a graduate of Swansea High School and a devout Clemson Tiger fan. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church where she was the church organist and a member of the Women’s Missionary Unit (WMU). Prior to joining Antioch Baptist Church, she was a member of King Grove Baptist Church where she was the church organist, the Sunday school treasurer, a member of the WMU and leader for the Girls in Action and Acteens. She was also active in the Lexington County Farm Bureau and the Lexington County Clemson Club. Mrs. Livingston was employed by the Department of Motor Vehicles prior to her retirement from the state.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Lawrence H. Livingston, Jr. Mrs. Livingston is survived by two daughters; Angie Olawsky of West Columbia, Rene’ Free and her husband, Rick of Moncks Corner, and a son, Brad Livingston of Swansea. She leaves behind six grandchildren whom she treasured dearly, Dalton and Blaine Olawsky; Parker and Aidan Free and Berkeley and Brooke Livingston. She is also survived by two sisters, Kay Collings and Geneva Spires. She was preceded in death by her brother, Aubrey Poole.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 28, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 2:30 p.m.

Mrs. Livingston’s family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff at Lexington Oncology and Lexington Medical Center 8th floor for their love and care they provided for their mother.
