Jennifer Ann Shields Cousins, 53, of Lexington, South Carolina, peacefully went to her Heavenly Home on December 18, 2021. Jennifer was born in Elgin, Illinois on February 7, 1968, the daughter of Elizabeth A. Tucker and Michael J. Shields.
She was a member of Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church and attended and supported Emmaus Church. Throughout her life, she was known as “Mamma Cousins” to many, an artist, vocalist, cosmetologist, businesswoman, Sunday school teacher, youth and worship leader, writer, and jack of all trades.
Jennifer is survived by her beloved husband, Joe S. Cousins II, of Lexington, SC; son, Matthew B. Cousins of Ashland, Ohio (Tabitha M. Cousins, Grayson M. Baboolal, Jack A. Cousins); daughters, Caitlin S. Cousins of Lexington, SC, and Savannah B. Cousins (Tyler A. Robinson and Lennon A. Robinson) of Olympia, Washington; brothers, Mark I. Slocomb (Jaime Slocomb) of Atlanta, GA. She has three grandchildren: Grayson M. Baboolal, Jack A. Cousins, and Lennon A. Robinson. Jennifer was predeceased by her brother, Matthew R. Shields.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church, 1205 Old Cherokee Road, Lexington, SC. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt appreciation to all the staff at Lexington Medical Center.
