ELGIN – Funeral services for Joanne Elizabeth Pierce, 74, of Elgin will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel with interment in Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 17, 2018 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Joanne was born October 31, 1943 in Columbia, SC to Harley W. and Loretta M. Roland Ard and passed away Saturday, August 11, 2018. She was a member of International Praise Church and was a retired teacher’s-aide at ChesterBrook Academy. She was a musician and enjoyed playing and singing gospel music. She loved her cats and collecting snowmen.
Surviving are her son, Brian Pierce and his wife Gabi of Elgin; sister, Cheryl Ard of Gaston; brothers, Harley M. Ard of Sumter, James Ard and his wife Cecile of Elgin, Richard Ard of Camden; lifelong friend, Jo McNeill of Columbia; niece and special caretaker, Renee Fires and her husband, Tom; five other nieces, Kim, Beth, Amy, Stephanie, and Heather; nephews, Jamie, David, Billy and Rhett; three great-nieces and six great-nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Lorna Gail Moseley.
