Funeral services for Joe Simmons Cousins, 82, will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel, with interment to follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Cousins was born June 9, 1941 in Norfolk, VA, and peacefully went to his heavenly home on Friday, January 12, 2024. He was the son of George W. and Villie V. Cousins. Joe retired in 1997 as Chief of Program Control with the HQ Standards Group, Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base, Montgomery, AL after 35 plus years of active duty (USAF) and civil service (USN & USAF). Throughout his life, he faithfully served in various facets of church ministry in VA, MD, AL, and SC. He shared the gospel of Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior as a deacon, educator, and pastor.
Mr. Cousins is survived by his sons, Joe S. Cousins II (Pamela) of Lexington, Keith A. Cousins (Melissa) of Montgomery, AL; grandchildren, Matthew Cousins (Tabitha), Caitlin Cousins, Savannah Cousins, Victoria Smith (Brandon), Emily Cousins; great-grandchildren, Grayson, Liam, Jack, Graham, Maisie. He was predeceased by his parents; his loving wife, Gladys Stewart Cousins; his brother, George B. Cousins; and sister, Florence L. Brewer.
