Julia S. Cook, age 78, of West Columbia, South Carolina passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2024. She was born on January 9, 1946 and was a daughter of Julius Strickland Snell and Ila Belle Snell (Corley).
Julia graduated in the first graduating class of Airport High School. She went on to become an administrative assistant for South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation for 30 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Wendy C. Smith (James); grandson, Christopher Blake Keaton (Simeon Shaylor); step-granddaughters, Abigail and Anna Smith; brothers, Lawrence Gene Snell, Sr. and James Ross Snell (Brenda); sisters, Janette Snell Mangum and Phylis Snell Brooks (Jim); sister-in-law, Patricia Cook; along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Donnal C. Cook; her brothers, Julius Snell “Sonny” and Lavern Snell; and sisters, Rodella Snell Hallman and Carol Ann Snell.
A visitation will be held for Julia from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home – West Columbia Chapel, 820 West Dunbar Road, West Columbia, SC 29170. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 PM at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Rd, Columbia, SC 29229.
