L. C. Floyd

L. C. Floyd was born in Olanta, SC on April 24, 1935 and died on June 6, 2022. He attended schools in Olanta and Lake City, SC. He was a soldier with the US Army from 1955 – 1957. He was a member of the US Army Reserves for ten years. In 1958, he became a student at the SC Area Trade School, now Midlands Technical College, where he earned an AS degree.

He was employed by La Berne Manufacturing Company for twenty years and at Columbia International University for twenty years. After retiring from CIU, L.C. was employed by Bearing Distributors for twenty years. He finally retired at age 85.

L.C. was a member of the Civil Air Patrol, an inactive Master Mason, and a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Cayce, SC. He participated in short term missions trips with his family to St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands, Budapest, Hungary and Romania.

He enjoyed working with wood and built numerous pieces of furniture for pastors and Christian organizations. Because he considered his skill a gift from God, he took much pride in his work.

Preceding L.C.’s death are his parents, Carlie and Gertrude Floyd of Lake City and his brother, Billy Floyd of Ladson, SC.

Surviving is his wife, Irma Jean (Walker) Floyd of 65 years; two daughters, Martha Gayle Floyd and Cherrie Lynn Coeyman; a son-in-law, Dale Coeyman; two sisters, Lorraine Wallace of Florence, SC and Salley Graham of Lake City, SC; a brother, Carlton “Stoney” Floyd of Hopkins, SC; four grandsons, Michael Waldrop, Bryan Coeyman, Jonathon “Charlie” Waldrop and Greg Coeyman; numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws.

L.C. was a faithful husband and Godly father. He influenced many people with his quiet nature, dependable service and wise counsel.

A private family service will be held.
