Born on August 2, 1961, in Columbia, SC, he was a son of Lura McMakin Hunnicutt and the late Larry Linwood Hunnicutt, Sr. A graduate of Midlands Technical College and the University of South Carolina, Lin was for many years self-employed as a vending facility operator through the SC Commission for the Blind. During this time he met the love of his life, the late Sue Kelly Hunnicutt.
Lin was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Columbia, SC. There he enjoyed serving as Chairman of the Encouragers Steering Committee for several years. Lin also served for many years on the Graduate Council of Guiding Eyes for the Blind, through which he enjoyed independence with his guide dogs. He enjoyed all things NASCAR, USC Gamecocks, listening to music, and spending time with family and friends.
Lin is survived by his mother, brothers Joel (Susan) and Dan (Kara), sister Eve (David) Huffman, nieces and nephews, great-niece and great-nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, his wife, and nephew Max.
The family expresses deep gratitude for Jordan Riggs and the excellent care she provided Lin during the last months of his life. They are also grateful to the pastors and officers of First Presbyterian Church for faithfully visiting and praying with Lin.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Smith Chapel at First Presbyterian Church, 1324 Marion Street (Smith Chapel faces Washington Street), Columbia. Burial will be private.
