

Linda Spires Chavis, age 81, of Lexington, South Carolina, the wife of the late Jackie Chavis, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, July 20, 2024. She was born on February 20, 1943 to the late Ida Belle Jeffcoat and Melvin E. Spires.
Linda worked as a bookkeeper for family construction company, J.E. Chavis Builders. She also worked for Hite’s BBQ in West Columbia. She was a wonderful mother to her children and Nana to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her three daughters, Lisa Anderson (Jon), Angela Thomas (Chris), and Melissa Sprosty (Phil); two sisters, Corene Chavis and her twin sister, Brinda Browder; twelve grandchildren: Shanna (Anthony), Michael, Savannah (Dee), Todd, Chelsea, Nicholas, Matthew (Katelynn), Joseph, Logan, Ethan, Gavin, and Reiland; fourteen great-grandchildren: Shawn, Connor, Carter, Parker, Kailer, Garnet, Olive, Jack, Peyton, Baylee, Emerson, Serena, Everett, and Brantley; and her dog, Vegas.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Tammy Chavis; one sister, Ruth Spires; and two brothers, Lamar Jeffcoat and Clarence Spires.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home – West Columbia Chapel, 820 West Dunbar Road, West Columbia, SC 29170. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 PM on Friday, July 26, 2024 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home – West Columbia Chapel, with burial to follow at Southland Memorial Gardens.
