Louise Wooten Stanley, age 93, passed away on April 1, 2026. She was born in Hampton, South Carolina, to Leona Jarrell and Joe Wooten, and was raised in a large, loving family alongside her seven siblings, an upbringing that helped shape her lifelong values of compassion, resilience, and deep connection to those she loved.
Louise devoted many years to her work at JB White, ultimately finding her perfect place as a representative for Elizabeth Arden cosmetics. In that role, her vibrant personality truly came to life. She never met a stranger - welcoming everyone who passed by with a warm smile, a kind word, and often an invitation to “have a seat” while she added a touch of lipstick. You always knew when Louise was there; her joyful laughter and friendly spirit filled the building. She took great pride not only in her work, but in the meaningful connections and lasting friendships she formed with everyone she met along the way.
A woman of deep and abiding faith, Louise was a devoted and faithful member of West Side Baptist Church. She found great joy in teaching 3rd grade Sunday School for many years, where her gentle spirit, patience, and wisdom left a lasting impression on the many children she guided and loved. Louise also dedicated her time to various church committees, especially cherishing her work with the social committee. Through this, she helped plan gatherings, serve meals to those in need, and create moments of fellowship and care.
Even in her final months, Louise’s faith remained a guiding light and a gift she freely shared with all who crossed her path. At her assisted living community, she continued to uplift those around her, often gathering new friends to lead them in song. It was not uncommon to hear her singing beloved hymns; especially her favorite, “When We All Get to Heaven”.
She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Lown; son, Barry Stanley (Brenda); grandchildren: Melissa Wooten, Christina Glenn (Willis), Baxter Stanley (Lauren), Logan Stanley, and Colt Stanley; along with six great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her sister, Gloria Brunson (Edward); brothers, Edison Wooten and Ruddy Wooten; sister-in-law, Jane Wooten; as well as numerous loved nieces and nephews who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
Louise was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 71 years, Jack Stanley; her beloved son, Jack Eddie Stanley, Jr.; her dear son-in-law, Walter Lown; and her siblings Earl Wooten, Jimmy Wooten, Loretta Moore, and Nan Molony.
While her family grieves her loss, they find comfort in knowing she is reunited with those she loved so dearly.
Visitation will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home - West Columbia Chapel, 820 West Dunbar Rd., West Columbia, SC 29170, followed by a funeral service at 11:30 AM. Burial will take place at Southland Memorial Gardens, 700 West Dunbar Rd., West Columbia, SC 29170 immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Connie Maxwell Children’s Home, 810 Maxwell Ave, Greenwood, SC 29646 (https://conniemaxwell.com/give/donate-now/) or West Side Baptist Church, 2100 Platt Springs Rd, West Columbia, SC 29169, two places that held a very special place in Louise’s heart.

They also extend their heartfelt appreciation to the dedicated staff of Carroll Campbell Place and MSA Hospice for the kindness, dignity, and respect shown to Louise during the final months of her life. Louise’s life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
