You could always find Marguerite cooking and ready to feed anyone who would walk in the door, reading her Bibles, doing crossword puzzles, and simply enjoying her family.
She is survived by her children, Sandra Ketchens, Janet (Mark) Porter, Barbara (Charlie) Turner, Paul Garner; 17 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Albert Murphy, Betty Watts, and Richard Murphy. Preceded in death by parents, George and Edith Murphy; husband, Rufus Garner; sons, Bruce Garner and Mike Garner; grandchild, Jason Rinehart; sister, Sara Avritt and brother, Tommy Murphy.
A service to celebrate the life of Marguerite Garner will be held on Friday, August 13 at 11:00 am, with visitation one hour prior, at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel. Burial will follow at Southland Memorial Gardens, 700 West Dunbar Road, West Columbia, SC 29170.
