Martha Jane Wilson passed from this world on June 21, 2022 at age 81, surrounded by family, at her home in Young Harris, GA. She will be remembered as a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.
Martha is survived by family she loved dearly: her husband, Archie Wilson; their son, William Wilson and his wife, Cheryl Wilson; grandsons, Joe Wilson, Chris Wilson, and Johnny Fowler; brothers, Daniel Lee and David Lee; sister, Bobbie S. Woodall; 6 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Martha is preceded in death by her mother, Myrtie S. Lee; father, Vernon Sharpe; and her granddaughter, Ashley Wells.
Martha was a radiant fountain of love and compassion to the many people whose lives she touched, and she will be profoundly missed by all. She was a devout Baptist, and she greatly enjoyed playing piano for the congregation during Sunday service. She cared deeply for her family and friends, of whom she was fiercely loyal and immeasurably generous; no one ever left her home with an empty stomach. She had a passion for shopping, always for others. She adored her pets, dogs and cats alike.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 27 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel, with interment to follow at Southland Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be David Lee, Joe Wilson, Joel Watts, John Wilson, Will Usilton, John Irvine and honorary pallbearer, Chris Wilson. Memorials can be made to charities dear to Martha's heart: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl., Memphis, TN 38105, and the Humane Society of the United States, 1255 23rd Street NW, Suite 450, Washington, DC 20037.
