He was born in Flat Creek, SC to Lossie and Ola Lucas. After three years in the United States Air Force, he married Joyce in July of 1962. He worked 31 years in the security equipment business,18 of those for his own company. When he wasn't working, he was spending time with his family or watching football, especially if his Gamecocks were playing.
He was predeceased by his wife, Joyce, as well as his six siblings: Evelyn, Irene, Reba, Eugene, Shorty and Bill. He is survived by his daughter Kim Hutto (Michael), his grandsons Austin and Zachary, and his nonbiological granddaughter, Jade Hutto.
The memorial service will be held on February 28, 2026, at 1 p.m. at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home at Southland Memorial Gardens West Columbia.
