Michael “Mike” L. Brown, Sr.

CAYCE – Michael “Mike” Langford Brown, Sr., 85, of Cayce, passed away at his home on Friday, November 1, 2013, after a long illness. He was born in Blythewood, SC on April 6, 1928, to the late Mike Brown and Lillian Frick “Mrs. Polly” Brown. Mr. Brown was a member of Faith Lutheran Church where he was a member of the Lutheran Men in Mission. He loved sports and was a huge Clemson fan. He was a member of IPTAY-Lexington County Chapter. In the 1960’s and 70’s he coached Cayce Dixie Youth Pee Wee and Little League baseball. He was retired from Lexington School District 2, where he was the District’s Purchasing Agent for twenty years. Mr. Brown is survived by a son, Michael L. Brown, Jr. of Tega Cay; daughter, Beth Brown (Jackie Costner) of Cayce; grandson, David Matthew Tebo of Fort Mill; brother, James Henry Brown (Nelle), and a very special friend, Margaret L. James. He was predeceased by his parents; brother, William Clinton Brown; sisters, Alvina Evans, Ruby McCaa, Katherine (Kitty) Horlacher. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Faith Lutheran Church in West Columbia with visitation following the service at the church. The family would like to give special thanks to his wonderful caregivers, Nadine Lann and Mary Roady. Words cannot express our appreciation for all that you did for our father. Also a special thanks to Tri-County Hospice, Nancy Geib and Almeeka Robinson. Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel is assisiting the family with arrangements.
