
Minnie Ruth Wilkerson, 83, of West Columbia, South Carolina, passed away on July 20, 2026. Born on June 27, 1943, Mini was a beloved and cherished presence whose steady faith, quiet wisdom, and resilient spirit shaped the lives of those who knew her. Her life reflected a deep sense of purpose—marked by hard work, perseverance, and an enduring example that inspired family and friends alike.
A high school graduate, Mini built a career grounded in service and dedication. She worked for the Department of Corrections and later retired from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. In each role, she carried herself with reliability and strength, earning respect through consistent effort and a steadfast commitment to doing what needed to be done.
Mini was the daughter of Paul and Aquila Boone. She is survived by her son, William Paul Wilkerson Sr.; her granddaughter, Samantha Blake Wilkerson; her grandson, William Paul Wilkerson Jr.; her great-grandson, Logan Blake Murray; her great-granddaughter, Leighton Michelle Murray; and her sister, Dayle Boone Humphries. She was predeceased by her husband, Harrison LeVerne Wilkerson and sister, Eunice Shirle.
Her creativity and patience were evident in the things she loved—painting, cross stitch, and crochet—each reflecting the careful, thoughtful way she moved through the world. She also enjoyed her favorite television shows, including Jeopardy, Family Feud, and Wheel of Fortune, finding comfort in familiar routines and simple pleasures.
Faith remained an important part of Mini's life, and she loved going to church on Sunday morning. In that devotion was the same steady, faithful heart that so many came to depend on—one that offered strength, reassurance, and a lasting example of grace under pressure.
A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 am on July 25, 2026, at Southland Memorial Gardens, 700 West Dunbar Road, West Columbia, SC 29170.
