Mr. Gnanashekar was born on June 1, 1953 in Bangalore, India to the late Mavalli Peter Moses and Dorcas Moses. He was the second oldest child of seven. Only his older brother, Manohar Raja Kumar, preceded him with death. His five other siblings survive him, in order of age, Hannah, David, Mary, Samuel and Daniel. In 1980, at the Christian Medical College in Vellore, Tamil Nadu, India, Moses Gnanashekar met Manohara. Mr. Gnanashekar married the love of his life on August 17, 1981. They had their first son, Ephraim Joseph on May 6, 1982 and their second son, Sharon Abraham on November 5, 1987. Ephraim Joseph is married to Dr. Kripalini Joseph with their daughter, Hadassah Joseph.
Mr. Gnanashekar worked as a hospital administrator at CSI hospital and a finance manager at St. Johns Hospital in Bangalore, India. In 1991, Moses and Manohara moved with their two sons to the United States to further their careers and give the best possible life for their children. Mr. Gnanashekar completed his nursing degree at the Medical University of South Carolina and worked as an RN until he retired at the age of 60.
Mr. Gnanashekar and his wife were the founders of Reach International Ministries (501c) and the Zarephath Ministry in Columbia, South Carolina. Zarephath Ministry was the third largest ministry in Columbia, SC. It served a large number of homeless individuals and residents of Gonzales Garden. Reach International ministries was primarily located in Bovi Colony in Bangalore, India. Reach International served primarily slum children and their families with daily meals, educational materials, vacation bible school and Sunday church services. Mr. Gnanashekar was passionate for evangelism and church planting. He has led several to the Lord Jesus Christ and his last wish was to finish construction of a church in one of the villages. All memorial funds will be used to support his last wish and to support all the children who were part of this ministry.
