Nellie Mae Glover Hood
October 12, 1936 – February 7, 2021
Nellie Mae Donahue Glover Hood, 84, of West Columbia passed away on February 7, 2021. She was born on October 12, 1936 in Crocketville, Hampton County, SC. Her parents were the late Luther Ervin and Sula Mae Donahue.
Nellie was called to work at South Carolina Employment Security Commission in 1956 as an Assistant Secretary and Stenographer and retired in 1988 with 30 years of service. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Nellie is survived by her husband, Robert Ellison Hood; children, James Ricky Glover (Donna), Pamela Kay Glover Seals (Chris), Rhonda G. Smith (Dwain) all of Lexington, SC; grandchildren, Catherine Glover Frazier (Jeremy), James Thomas Glover (Jordan), Blandon Heyward Smith (fiancé, Samantha) and one great grandson, David Thomas Frazier. She is preceded in death by her first husband, James William Glover and son, Hubert Ervin Glover.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel, 820 West Dunbar Road, West Columbia, SC 29170 with visitation one hour before the service. Burial will follow at Southland Memorial Gardens, 700 West Dunbar Road, West Columbia, SC 29170.
