Raymond Lefue Beamer

November 6, 1948August 29, 2020

Raymond Lefue Beamer was born on November 6, 1948 and departed this life on August 29, 2020 making his stay on this earth 71 years. He was the son of the late Fred and Mary Beamer of Fries, VA. He is survived by his wife Beate Beamer of Columbia, SC. Seven children also survive: Melissa Hopson of Indianapolis, IN, Markus Beamer (Sherry) of Charlotte NC, Tanya Beamer of Columbia, SC, Patricia Beamer of Columbia, SC, Charles Beamer of Columbia, SC, Adrian Beamer of Columbia, SC, and Dominic Beamer of Washington, DC. Nine grandchildren also survive. Also four sisters survive: Helen Howard of Galax, VA, Frances Brown (Jessie) of Cleveland, OH, Christine Cooper (John) of Mt. Airy, NC, and Ada Rucker (Frank) of Crumpler, NC. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by five brothers: Richard Beamer, William Beamer, James Beamer, Willard Beamer, and Blain Beamer and three sisters: Evelyn Brown, Ruth Davis, and Nita (Hilda) Thomas. He is also preceded in death by his granddaughter Kayla Beamer. Raymond was educated at Fries Elementary School, Scott Memorial High School, Fries High School, and the University of South Carolina where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Sociology. After briefly living in Painesville, OH he joined the army and served his country proudly for 20 years. During his service he completed two tours of duty in Vietnam and earned an award for meritorious achievement. While stationed in Germany, he met his future wife, Beate Hart and they eventually had six children. After being stationed in Tacoma, WA and Augusta, GA, the family settled in Columbia, SC.

Raymond lived a full and rich life and was always true to himself. He was aware that what matters most is your relationship with others. He had a deep appreciation for the spiritual realm at the core of his existence. Raymond is profoundly loved and missed by many. May he rest in peace.

My best memory was the first time I met Raymond. He’s my best friend Tanyas father. I met him at Tanyas house. He was so sweet, funny and just full of life! It was a pleasure knowing him and to see the love he had for his daughter.
