

WEST COLUMBIA – A graveside service for Robert Benjamin Williams, 75, will held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, July 14, 2017 at Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel.
Mr. Williams was born December 2, 1941 in Laurel Mississippi and passed away Monday, July 10, 2017. He was the son of the late, Edward Benjamin and Merttie Walley Williams.
Mr. Williams served in the United States Army in Korea from 1959-1962. He was a route salesman and supervisor with Palmetto Bakeries and later became an owner/operator of a distributorship with Pepperidge Farms. He loved his Lord and served as a Sunday school teacher, deacon and youth leader for many years. Mr. Williams loved to work in his yard and home, and he was an avid reader who loved discussing history and politics. He loved the Gamecocks, attending football and basketball games whenever possible. Most of all he cherished spending time with his family, and his sweet pugs, but he especially treasured trips to Zesto’s for ice cream with his grandson and helping to give him driving lessons.
Surviving are his daughter, Deborah D. Williams; sons, Anthony Craig Williams and Brian (April) Williams all of West Columbia; grandson, Benjamin Williams; brothers, Daniel, Larry, David and Michael Williams; sisters, Mary Miller, Marcie Ainsworth, Donna Huddleston all of Mississippi and Edith Zamudio of Texas. He was predeceased by his wife of 46 years. Joyce L. Williams.
