
WEST COLUMBIA – A memorial service for Russell G. Larimore, Jr. 61, will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel, with the Rev. Jim Walker officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorials may be made to Boy Scouts of America, Indian Waters Council, PO Box 144, Columbia, SC 29201 in memory of Russ Larimore.
Russ was born December 17, 1949 in Bethesda, MD and passed away suddenly, on Wednesday, May 11, 2011. He was a son of Annie Davis Larimore and the late Russell G. Larimore, Sr. Russ grew up in Michigan, graduated from Rogers High School, Wyoming, MI. and received an Associates Degree in Architectural Drafting from Ferris State College. Russ was honorably discharged from the United States Navy after serving on the USS Sarsfield during the Vietnam War. In 1985, he moved to South Carolina where he continued his engineering detailing career. Russ began his participation with the Boys Scout as a child and continued to serve as an adult. He was the former Scout Master of Troop 424. He was employed by MEI Detailing of Lexington and was a former employee of Owen Steel Co. He was an avid photographer and enjoyed camping, boating, the outdoors and traveling and carpentry. More than anything, he loved his country and his family.
Russ is survived by his wife, Patty Hedges Larimore of West Columbia; their beloved pets Molly and Penny; his mother, Annie Davis Larimore; brother, Bruce Larimore of Columbia; aunts and uncles, Jim and Martha Larimore of Byron Center, MI; John and Ethel Sabataz of Hudsonville, MI; and numerous cousins in Michigan, his father-in-law, Lt. Col (Ret) Walter N. Hedges of West Columbia; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews: Mary and Wallace Mason, their children David (Tina) and Adam of Gulfport, MS; Susan and Thomas Brooks of Hilton Head, SC, their children Emily of Charleston, SC, Amy of Greeneville, TN and Maggie of Boston, MA; Jane Hedges of Greenville, SC; Nancy and Clay Addison, their children Geneva and John of Charlotte, NC; and Joan and Kevin Yacobi, their children Nathan and Max of Lexington, SC. Russ was predeceased by his sister, Sheila Hite.
