Tommy McPherson

LYNCHBURG – Tom Arthur McPherson, 76, was laid to rest Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Southland Memorial Gardens, officiated by Donnie Smith.

Mr. McPherson was born August 25, 1940 in Birmingham, AL and passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 due to complications from a long fight with cancer. He was the son of the late Tomie Ray and Frances Jennings McPherson. Mr. McPherson proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was an avid fisherman, very skilled at both fresh and saltwater fishing. He also liked “antiquing” and going to auctions, attending several auctions each week for as long as he could. He once said that he enjoyed his “auction family”. He never met a stranger. He was immensely comforted by the unwavering assurance that God was ultimately in complete control of everything, and that God held his hand as he journeyed through the valley of the shadow of death.

Mr. McPherson is survived by his son, Tommy A. McPherson, II (Beth Ann); daughter, Michelle L. Prewette (Del) and grandchildren, Bay, Jake, Luke, Arthur and Broderick. He was predeceased by his wife of 40 years, Roy Lynn McPherson.

Memorials can be made in honor of Mr. McPherson to Boy Scouts of America, Troop 85, Springhill Presbyterian Church, 10 Westminster Way, Mobile, AL 36608. Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
