Violet is survived by her son, John D. Russell; daughter, Janet Russell Wood (William); grandchildren, David E. Wood, Tiffany Loleta Russell Lee (Craig), Jennifer E. Russell, Shawna Wood Busbee (Michael), Brittany E. Russell (Joe Stoudemire), Lindsey W. Durrett (Jon); 17 great grandchildren that she adored and many other family and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, John H. Russell; five sisters and two brothers.
Violet retired after 25 years at Mepco as a welder. She was dedicated to her church, Brookland United Methodist Church. She was a hard worker, gardener and caregiver. Her favorite sayings were "Put it in God's hands" and "I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck". Violet graduated from Brookland-Cayce High School in 1951.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel, with interment to follow at Southland Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. prior to the service in the chapel.
