Wayne Delano Wise

Gaston – Wayne D. “Sam” Wise, of Gaston, SC. joined his Heavenly Father on Thursday, October 3, 2013. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was born in Swansea, SC in 1937 to the late Oscar Dargin Wise and late Thelma Chavis Wise Williams. He played football at Swansea High School and was offered a scholarship to Georgia Tech. Dad loved cooking, singing, fishing and above all his family. He is survived by his children, Wanda (Larry) Evans, of Gaston; Michael (Mia) Wise, of Gaston, Teresa Wise Lewis, of Lexington, Kimberly (Lane) Hite, of West Columbia; grandchildren, Michelle Koucky, Rebecca Belec, Larry W. Evans, Scott Evans, Jessica Wardlaw, Corley Hudson, Joshua Boatwright, Patrick Wise, Forrest Hite and Mandi Williams; 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Merle (Thurmond) Saylor, Barbara (Leon) Lee, T.L. Wise, Dianne Shuler, Allen (Lavonda) Williams and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a sister, Helen (James) Berry. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Agape Hospice House for their services.

Funeral services for Mr. Wise will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church in Gaston, SC with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday October 5, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel, 820 W. Dunbar Rd., West Columbia, SC.
