Funeral arrangements will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel, 820 W.Dunbar Road, West Columbia, SC 29170. The Rev. John Hucks will be officiating. A private burial will follow at Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service.
We will be following the CDC guidelines for COVID-19. Masks will be required.
Wiley “Jackie” was born on November 21, 1939 in Orangeburg County, the son of the late Wiley Quitman “W.Q.” Jackson, Sr. and the late Daisy Myrl Axson Jackson. He was a loving husband, son-in-law, brother, uncle, great uncle, great-great uncle and friend to all. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
Wiley “Jackie” was employed with Western Electric, working in South Carolina and later relocated to North Carolina working as a Service Manager at several car dealerships before relocating back to the Columbia area. Wiley retired from SCE&G after thirty-six years of service and was the “Chaplin” with the Law Riders Motorcycle Club. As a young man he loved auto racing and often drag raced on and off the track. He participated in a professional race at the Bristol Tennessee Dragway and won in his class driving a Plymouth owned by his Chrysler dealer employer. He is known by his friends as a Mopar man and loved his beautiful Dodge Hemi truck and his Indian Scout motorcycle.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-six years, Carolyn Duncan Jackson of the home; his mother-in-law, Gladys Duncan of Lexington; two brothers, Bobby Joe (Nancy) Jackson of North; Clarence T. “Timmy” (Lori) Jackson of Rowesville; two sisters, Rebecca Merle (Henry) Sharpe of Swansea; Madilyn Jane (Danny) Fralick of Orangeburg; a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews and his special “Little Girl” Molly.
Wiley “Jackie” was predeceased by his parents; his father-in-law, Woodrow Duncan, and three nephews, Carlisle Sharpe, Bryan Sharpe and Trey Fralick.
