It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and sister, Willie Mae Chavis. Willie Mae passed away peacefully Saturday, June 27, 2020 at the Carolina Gardens Senior Care of Lexington at the age of 85.
Willie Mae was born January 16, 1935 in Orangeburg County to Willie and Doris Williams, now deceased. Willie Mae was predeceased by her husband, William in 2015; daughter, Miriam in 2013; brother, Louis; sisters, Ollie Belle, Faye, Velma. Willie Mae is survived by her son, Scott Williams (Debbie) of South Congaree; daughter, Wanda Jeffcoat (Elvin) of Swansea; son, Phillip Williams (Joyce) of Gaston; daughter, Margie Bryant (Tony) of Gaston; son, Farrell Williams of South Congaree, and son-in-law, Art Manos of Gaston. Three sisters survive her: Shirley Furtic of West Columbia, Rita Jeffcoat (Clyde) of Bluffton, and Patsy Reed (Glen) of West Columbia. Grandchildren include Betsy Bouknight (Chip), Patrick Jeffcoat (Stacy), Adam Williams (Ashlea), Amanda Twitty (Russell), Tony Roberts (Susan), Lee Williams (Christie), Heidi McClellan, Russell Jeffcoat, William Bryant, Jason Williams (Kim), April Lutz (Jacob), Monica Doyle (Thurmond), Kandi Hatchell (Ronnie), JW Williams (Emily), and Kimberly Manos. Many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews abound.
Willie Mae worked as a homemaker for most of her life. She was married to William for over 50 years.
