Alma Boots Marie Smith Flemmons

August 1, 1929 – December 30, 2010

Alma Marie “Boots” Flemmons, 81 of Waco, passed away on Thursday night, December 30, 2010 at her home. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Chaplain T. Brian Pendleton of Providence Hospice officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service.

“Boots” was born on August 1, 1929 in McLennan County to Charles Eddie and Winnie Grace (DeHart) Smith. She attended schools in Waco and married the love of her life, John W. Flemmons, on October 3, 1953. She worked for J.M. Wood Mfg. and several other sewing factories before her retirement and was a wonderful seamstress. Her favorite things in life were, first and foremost, her soul mate “Johnny”, her many siblings and their families, Pearl Harbor Survivor friends, Dallas Cowboys, Congressman Chet Edwards, chicken fried steak, working out at Gold’s Gym, her manicured yard, and beautiful plants and flowers. She also loved making jelly and shelling pecans to share with her family and friends.

“Boots” was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years.

“Boots” is survived by her sisters, Barbara Ingram, Mamie Leftwich and husband, Jim, Frances White and husband, J.W., and Florene Roberts, all of Waco, Ola Mae LaRue of Pleasanton, and Tran Malone of McCalla, AL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Honorary Pallbearers will include nephews, Korey Coleman, Ian Coleman, Steve Carrier, Stephen Duncan, Brad Carrier, Chris Muns, Johnny Williams, John Robert Parker, Eugene LaRue, Harvey Bradley, and Shawn Pierce.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Providence Hospice, 4830 Lakewood Drive #2, Waco, TX 76710, American Cancer Society, 1700 Lake Success, Waco, TX 76710, or to your favorite charity.

The family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the members of Providence Hospice, especially Amy Raborn, Kristina Lee, and Laura Caruthers, for their gentle, loving care. May God bless them richly.
