

Anita Jo Stockburger, 88, of Waco passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at a hospital in Waco. Anita was born on July 13, 1926 in Mills County, Texas to Sydney Loid and Virgie Mae Hart Hancock. Anita was a popular girl growing up. She was a member of the Gatesville High School cheerleading squad and played the lead role in her senior year play. During World War II, she served our country by supporting the war effort as a Dental Hygienist at Fort Hood. On October 23, 1944, she married the love of her life, Robert E. Stockburger, Jr. She committed the rest of her life to being a devoted Wife, Mother, and Grandmother. She and Robert had five children together and enjoyed a long, happy marriage.
Anita is preceded in death by her parents Sydney Loid and Virgie Mae Hart Hancock, her brother Terry Hancock, great-grandson Zayne Wade, and her beloved husband Robert Stockburger.
Anita is survived by her siblings James L. Hancock, Margaret McGloughlin, and Linda Bartlett; her loyal companion and best friend, Squeaky (her sweet pug); sons, Dr. Robert L. Stockburger and wife Marcille, and David Stockburger and wife Kathie; daughters, Brenda Hand, Penny Stewart and husband Ron, and Venita Bouska; fifteen grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
