Augustine was born August 28, 1933 to Matias and Marcos (Delgado) Compian in Encinal, Texas. He was a longtime resident of Waco. He married his high school sweetheart Dora Mendoza in San Antonio, Texas. They had four children Frank T. Compian, Elizabeth Ann Martinez, Johnny Compian, and Debra Compian Noyola. They were married until her passing in 1993. Augustine served in the United States Army during the Korean War. After serving in the Army, he graduated barber school in Austin and opened his first barber shop next to his father’s store in Waco. He enjoyed giving haircuts to all of his family members and friends; and was proud that he gave all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren their first haircut.
His hobbies included fishing, cooking, and playing pool. He enjoyed watching sports especially the Dallas Cowboys and boxing with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Dora and his daughter Elizabeth; parents Matias and Marcos; his brothers Inez and Tomas (who were killed in action in WWII), Pascual, Emilio, Matias; and sister Juanita Perez.
He is survived by his children: Frank and wife May of California, Johnny and wife Laura of California, and Debra Compian Noyola and husband Pete of Texas, and son-in-law Tony Martinez of Texas; his grandchildren: Krystal Cook and husband Randall, Kacey Noyola, Jonathan Compian, Michael Compian, Frank Compian, Jacob Compian, and Madeleine Compian; and his great-grandchildren: Karlie Cook and Jaxon Cook; and his sister Nebolena Ochoa and husband Ernest; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Our family would like to give a special thank you to his sister Nebolena, and in his words “his beautiful niece” Lydia, nephew Robert Compian, and nieces Dorothy and Melissa. Thank you to all of the family and friends that prayed, visited, and sent their well wishes and love.
