

Bertha Jane Polston , “Jane”, 72, went to be with the Lord on Nov. 11th, 2022 after a brief courageous struggle with cancer. Private burial Nov 14th at Rosemound Cemetery in Waco, Tx alongside her Foster Parents, Mr and Mrs Ruth and H.B. Lehman whom she dearly loved. Memorial Service Saturday November 19th at Saint Lydia’s Episcopal Student Center 11 am in Waco, Tx.
Born in Austin, Tx to Smith Ollie Polston and Bertha Beatrice Mays, at less than 2 years of age she went to live with her Aunt and Uncle, Ruth and H.B. Lehman. Growing up happily on the farm in Robinson, TX, she loved animals and took great pride in H.B.’s career in Law Enforcement. She also remained close to her birth family including her mother, grandmother and two beloved brothers, John and Ollie, whom she spoke of often.
Jane enjoyed reading and was known for sending thoughtful cards to her friends and family on birthdays, holidays and just for encouragement. She was a passionate cat lover. Trained as a Certified Nurse Assistant, her love and compassion were evident to many. Jane was especially devoted to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, speaking often of her friends at the First Lutheran Church of Waco. She gained much strength and comfort from Psalm 23 in her final days. She was also thankful for the support and assistance of friends and family as well as the encouragement that she received from her Pastor, Austin Nickel.
Preceded in death by her parents, Smith Polston and Bertha Moore, Foster Parents Ruth and H.B. Lehman as well as her brother Smith Ollie Polston Jr.
Survived by her brother John Moore, her sister-in-law, Linda Polston, as well as extended family on the Lehman side: Mary Lynne Lehman, Chad and Laurie Sikes, Suzanne Lehman Johnson and Nancy Kehl as well as her beloved cats: Bootzie, Pearl and Jazzy and many other family and friends.
