Charles Douglas "Doug" Westbrook, 81, of Wichita Falls, TX passed away at his home Sunday, March 27, 2016. A celebration of life service will be held in the chapel on Saturday, April 2 at 2 p.m. at Connally-Compton Funeral Directors, 4400 W. Waco Drive in Waco, TX.
He was born July 12, 1934 in San Antonio, TX to Reabe and Ann Westbrook. He graduated from University High School in Waco in 1951 and married Millie Owens in January 1952. He served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956 attending the Army Language School in Monterey, CA. He served as a Russian linguist while stationed in Sembach, Germany and later taught Russian at Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio. He graduated from the University of Texas, Austin in 1960, and went to work for Amicable Life Insurance Company in Waco. He worked in the insurance industry for over 33 years, retiring as a founding partner of Columbia Universal Life Insurance Company of Austin in 1993. He was a lifelong avid golfer and dog lover.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, R.F. Westbrook of Granbury, TX.
He is survived by his four children, Pam Downing and husband, Joe, Beverly Westbrook, Lynda Moczygemba and husband, Sherwin, all of Houston, and Charles Douglas "Doug" Westbrook Jr. of Waco; as well as five grandsons and five great-grandsons. He is also survived by his wife, Mary Beck.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to a no-kill animal shelter of choice.
