Cody Mathis

Cody Mathis, age 26, died on Monday, June 6, 2011 in Waco, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 10, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors chapel with Rev. Jeromy Conell officiating and burial to follow in the Riesel Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, June 9, 2011 from 6:00 p.m-8:00 p.m. Connally/Compton Funeral Directors.

Cody was born on Sept. 26, 1984 to Tony and Nancy Hutyra Mathis in Waco, Texas.He was a longtime resident of Riesel and graduated from Riesel High School in 2003. Cody worked with Saipam America as a ROV Pilot. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, dancing and racing anything that would go fast.

He was preceded in death by his father, Tony Mathis; grandfathers, Glynn Mathis and Henry Hutyra; grandmother, Martha Hutyra; aunt, Annette Hutyra; uncles, Don Maynard and Harry Lee Hutyra

Cody leaves behind to cherish his memories his mother, Nancy DeWitt and step-father, Mike of Riesel; sister, Cassey Elfrez and husband, Richard of Riesel; girlfriend, Britni Estes and son, A.J. of Leroy; grandmothers, Janet Mathis and wife, Sara of Gatesville, Sue Gillenwater of Albany, Or; aunts, Dea Ann Dees and husband, David of Axtell, Glynda Floyd and husband, Wayne of Gatesville, Martha Maynard of Elm Mott, Darlene Graham and husband, Leonard of Axtell and Barb Pedersen and husband, Tyce of Lebanon, Or; uncles, Henry Hutyra and wife, Pat of Chilton, Joe Hutyra and wife, Cindy of Crawford, and Bill Mathis of Gatesville; numerous cousins and lots of friends; beloved dog, Sadie
