David Paul Bilheimer of Waco, Texas passed away Dec. 26, 2014 at Providence Hospital.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, Dec. 29, at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors Chapel, with Chaplain Curtis Holland officiating. Burial will follow in Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 5-7pm, Sunday, Dec 28 at the funeral home.
David was born June 23, 1936 in Hudson, New York, the third son of Milton and Freida (Mulson) Bilheimer. The Bilheimer family moved to Waco in late 1936. David was a graduate of Waco High School, class of 1955. He served in the Marines Reserve briefly and in the Air Force as a Radio Intercept Operator during the Korean War. He worked for many years in the general office at Central Freight Lines, retiring in 1997.
David enjoyed sports particularly baseball, playing as well as coaching and umpiring. He enjoyed watching college football on TV, especially his beloved Texas Tech Red Raiders, but his true passion was bowling. He bowled in local leagues beginning in 1959. He bowled in many state tournaments and in 25 national tournaments. He was inducted into the Waco Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1992 and into the Texas State Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1998. David liked to bowl but more than that he loved the lifelong friends he made while bowling in various leagues and tournaments.
David is preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers, Robert and John Bilheimer.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Walter Bilheimer of Waco, his niece, Louanne Sauter Brady of Farmers Branch, his sister-in-law, Jackie Selk of New Braunfels, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Earl and Lucy (Guthrie) Walter of Waxahachie, a nephew and his wife, Nicholas and Meagan Walter of Wiley. He is also survived by childhood friends, Monroe Denison and Donnie Fouts and by longtime friends, Eddie and Debbie Sherman of Hewitt and Tom and Mary Burke of Fort Worth.
David will be missed by his family as well as many many friends. The family wishes to thank the staff at Providence Hospital for their concern and caring for David during his stay there.
