

DC was born on May 24, 1933, to Woody and Connie (Blakely) Patterson in Otto, Texas. DC graduated from Ben Hur High School in 1951 and married Ruby Lee Picha on May 26, 1956. Together they raised their family in the Speegleville area. He worked as a manufacturing engineer in the aerospace industry and retired from Hercules Corporation in McGregor in 1992. During his career he was instrumental in building the rockets for NASA in the Gemini and Apollo space programs. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Waco and delivered for the Meals on Wheels program for 17 years. He enjoyed solving puzzles, building things with his hands, watching old TV shows, and retelling stories from the good ‘ol days.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ruby, his brother Jack, and his son Gary.
Survivors include two daughters - Brenda Ballew and husband Darrell of Aquilla, and Crystal Becker and husband Cory of Riesel; also two sons - Donald Patterson and wife Jennie of Eddy, and David Patterson and wife Tonya of Caldwell; as well as 13 grandchild, 29 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at Connally/Compton Funeral Home from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, September 22nd. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, September 23, 2024, also at Connally/Compton Funeral Chapel with Pastor Steve Ramsdell presiding. Interment will follow with a graveside service in Chapel Hill Memorial Park in Robinson, Texas.
Pallbearers: Daniel Patterson, Travis Ballew, Eric Ballew, Wesley Ballew, Joseph Key, and Mark Hainline.
