

Dorothy Inez Wilson, 91 of Waco, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 31, 2015. Services will be held on Monday January 4, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Connally Compton Funeral Home with Francis Holt and Patrick Pricer officiating. Interment will follow at Waco Memorial Park. She passed from this life at her home with family present. Dorothy was born June 23,1924 in Trinidad, Texas to Allen Lee Hawthorne and Americo Averne (Crutchfield) Hawthorne. She was preceded in death by her husband William Homer, her mother, father, sister Faye, brothers Ray, John, Casey, Martin and Harold Don. She is survived by sons Dean Wilson and wife Sue of Valley Mills, Bobby Wilson and wife Rita of Lorena, Leon Wilson and wife DeAnne of Waco and a daughter Evonne Smith and husband Billy of Cushing, Texas. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren Heath, Heather, Essex, Summer, Ivan, Jason and Ashley as well as 11 great-grandchildren.
Dorothy and her husband Homer Wilson met as children in the fields picking cotton and later married on July 20, 1942. Raised during the difficult times of the depression she learned the value of a dollar. They later owned and operated Wilson Plastering Company which started operation in 1959 in Waco, Texas completing construction projects all over the United States and Puerto Rico. During World War II while her husband Homer served in the Coast Guard she helped with the war effort by working as a riveter in building aircraft for the U.S. Government in Fort Worth.
She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife and mother and on June 23, 2004 on her 80th birthday she was baptized into the Church of Christ on Spring Valley Road in Hewitt expanding her family even more. She was a dedicated member until her health restricted her ability to attend services. She was loved by her family and her extended family of church brothers & sisters and her caregivers. We wish to express our special thanks and sincerest gratitude to Providence Hospice and a very special thank you to Right At Home Health Care of Waco for all the love and care they showed for our mother.
