On September 15, 2010, Edna Morgan, a faithful servant, was welcomed home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 18, 2010 at Lake Shore Drive Church of Christ, 2800 Lake Shore Dr., with Brother Ernie Christie officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, September 17, 2010 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors.
Edna was born December 14, 1923 in Devonport, England to Herbert and Gladys Watts. Edna married Arthur R. Duggua on May 17, 1941. After his death, she married Doyle C. Morgan on December 24, 1945 in South Hampton, England. She came to the United States with him as his war bride and their marriage lasted 49 years. Her greatest joy and a full-time job was the rearing of their twelve children she treasured. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of her life and holidays were always a special time. Edna was an avid letter writer to friends and family. Some of her passions were watching westerns on Saturday and writing letters to U.S. Soldiers.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Arthur R. Duggua and Doyle C. Morgan; grandchildren, Marlana Morgan, Jared Whitney, Caleb Morgan; and sister, Eileen Chuter.
She is survived by and lives on in the memories of her children, Gloria Gilmore of Jeanerette, Louisiana, Doyleene Stephens of Waco, Linda and husband Gary Baggett of Hewitt, Doyle “Bud” and wife Mary Jane Morgan of Waco, Jim and wife Dolly Morgan of Houston, Wayland and wife Cheryll Morgan of Bastrop, Leland and wife Pam Morgan of Waco, Edna Carolyn and husband Don Whitney of Clifton, Kenny and wife Denise Morgan of Robinson, Richard and wife Joyce Morgan of Chalk Bluff, Larry and wife Paulette Morgan of Gallatin, TN., Valerie and husband Kevin Collins of Waco; grandchildren, Justin “Petey” and wife, Priscilla, Sharon and husband, Todd, Leslie, Alisha and husband, Scott, Michael and wife, Amber, Stephanie and husband, Tim, Brian, Hannah, Jim Wayne and wife, Henrietta, Alanna, Jon, David Jr., Michael, Jason and wife, Marian, Jeremy, Jaime, Joshua David, Kris and wife, Ravon, Kory and wife, Katie, Kaci and husband, Justin, Richard and wife, Melissa, David, Anthony and wife, Kellie, Daniel, Joshua and wife, Maria, Danielle, Cameron, Brooke and Rebecca; great grandchildren, Kaylie, Kristen, Tristin, Justin, Zoe, Karlyn, Zachary, Jonathan, Colby, Payton, Madison, Courtney, Landon, Kylie, Stevie, Seth, Jaxon, Gabriel, Lucas, David III, Hannah, Celis, Calina, Ty David, Tobin, Kash, Kolton, Craig, Kyle, Phillip, and Zyrus.
Pallbearers will be her sons, Jim, Wayland, Leland, Kenny, Richard and Larry Morgan. Honorary pallbearers are Gary Baggett, Kevin Collins and Don Whitney.
A special thanks to Gerry Malone for all the years of getting our mother to Ladies Bible Class on time and to other ladies of the church who always included her as a passenger. Our loving thoughts also go to Christine Beal, mother’s dearest friend in California. Our deepest appreciation goes to Dr. Rodney Brown for his genuine care for our precious mother.
Edna was deeply loved by her family and will be greatly missed.
