Ms. Scroggs was born on April 2, 1944 in Waco, TX to Joe and Nell Everett. At the age of 4, Wayne Bennett came into her life and he became her forever dad. In 1963, mom met the love of her life John and on June 6, 1964 they wed. Mom was a faithful military wife for over 20 years and enjoyed the many opportunities that this life provided to her. She was fortunate to be able to enjoy being stationed abroad and also numerous locations in the United States. She was an avid Dallas Cowboy and Texas Ranger fan. She loved shopping, playing cards, singing in the church choir, and crocheting. However, the job she cherished the most was that of being a mother and grandmother. She would attend soccer, volleyball, basketball, football, softball and even bowling events that were going on.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nell and Wayne Bennett, Joe Everett; and her husband Johnnie B. Scroggs. Survivors include her daughters, Brenda Skiff and husband Joe of Austin, Texas; Nelda Kirk and husband Ricky of Waco, Texas; and son, David Scroggs and wife Buffie of Palestine, Texas, 14 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, aunts, Delores Busch and Virginia Dollar of Waco, Texas, numerous sister in laws, nieces and nephews and dear friends.
The family would also like to thank her doctors, Lynn Knowles and Catherine Wu for their kind care that they provided to her; staff at St. David’s Hospital and Brush Country Rehab and Nursing; and the wonderful nurses and chaplain from Hospice Austin.
