

Ella Poston, born April 29, 1926, was called back to be with the angels September 7, 2014. Services will be held on Friday, September 12, at 10 am at Connally-Compton. Burial following at Waco Memorial Park. Jabo Ruben, of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 11, at Connally–Compton.
Ella was a native Texan, born in Clifton, Texas, the oldest of 5 children of Ella Sommerfield and Joseph Urban. She was raised on a farm near there, and told many stories of picking vegetables and cotton growing up. She graduated Clifton High School on May 21, 1943 where she played on the basketball team and was the lead in her high school play.
While working at Owens-Illinois Glass Company she met her husband Dave, while bowling for the company bowling league. They married in September, 1946 and were together 44 years until Dave’s death in 1990.
She was an avid Baylor Bear basketball and football fan, avid Family Y water aerobics participant, ABWA member, and member of the First Church of Christ Scientist, Waco.
Ella fell in love with Tupperware in the early 60’s and began selling it in 1963. She was a trail blazer for women working as independent sales consultants. And sell she did. She loved the ‘Tupperware Party’ concept and adopted the slogan; Life’s a Party, as her mantra for years. Her career spanned 51 years and she was a regular attendee at national conventions, as well as regional and local meetings. Most recently she attended the Spring Conference for Tupperware in Dallas in March. She was the local Tupperware Queen! She was recognized hundreds of times for her sales and team performances and she is One of a Kind!
Ella’s family includes daughter Patty Walters of Santa Fe, NM and son and daughter-in-law Mike Poston and wife Amy of Hewitt, TX, grandchildren Ashley Mae Poston, a senior at Trinity University, and Derek Matthew Poston, a Payload Design Engineer at Boeing, wife Hayle, and great grandson Levi of Seattle, WA. Ella has 2 brothers, Joe F. Urban and Bob Urban, and many others who adopted her as part of their extended families!
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dave, and Sister Josie Gouldman.
The family would like to thank all of the wonderful caregivers at Westview Manor in McGregor send Royal Manor II in Hewitt, as well as the staff and nurses of Gentiva Hospice. Our gratitude for your kindness and loving care goes beyond words.
