He was born on May 6, 1947, to the now late William and Vivian (McGinnis) Chambers. Red joined the United States Air Force right out of High School and was immediately deployed to Vietnam, where he was stationed in Thailand. He served our country proudly during his 25 years of military service. He retired as a Master Sergeant in 1991, but his allegiance to our country did not end. He honored the United States flag and taught us to do the same. The National Anthem would bring tears of pride to his eyes, just knowing just what it meant to serve. For the next 21 years he worked in Waco, Texas, at an aircraft restoration company, where he finally retired.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Peggy (Shearer) Chambers, 2 daughters: Shawntell Parrish and husband Scott of Hewitt, Texas, and Nichole Chambers of Waco, Texas. He is also survived by 2 grandsons who he loved more than life itself; Eric Rodriguez and wife Elizabeth and Tony Rodriguez (who could get his Papa to tell him things that he would tell no others), both from Waco. He also has 2 great grandsons who were his pride and joy: Gavin and Grayson Rodriguez.
Survivors also include 3 brothers: Rick and Wife Diane, David, and Kenny; 2 sisters: Kathy and husband Harry Ritchey, and Faye Michael all of Pennsylvania. Preceding him in death, along with his parents, were his grandparents, Wilbur and Rosetta Chambers, Elgin and Helen McGinnis, 5 brothers: Jerry, Kevin, Ernie, Chuck and Mike and 2 who became like brothers, and left too soon, John Michael and Sam Chambers.
