Ernestina was called to heaven at the age of 70 at home, Lockhart, Texas, with her family at her side. She was born in Waco, Texas to Lucy Gamboa-Romo and Cristino Casarez-Romo. She married Alfonso Ubiedo on May 29, 1971, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Waco, TX.
After getting married, Ernestina and Alfonso moved to San Benito, Texas and lived there for 23 years. She was a physical therapist assistant at a nursing home and then transferred to a private office. Later, she became a stay-at-home mom. Tina was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
She was a truly kind person that made friends easily and had a smile that could light up the room. Tina had a profound sense of humor, and her laugh was contagious. She enjoyed reading the bible with her prayer group at the Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Harlingen, Texas. Her hobbies were bird watching, dancing, fishing, shopping, and spending time with her family and friends. Tina indulged in Whataburger, Dr. Pepper, and PayDay candy bars. She loved listening to music by Conway Twitty and Ruben Naranjo y Los Gamblers. She loved watching the Dallas Cowboys, the Green Bay Packers, and the San Antonio Spurs.
She is survived by her husband Alfonso Ubiedo, and her daughters Clarissa Ubiedo and Juanita “Lynn” Rios, her son in law Rafael Rios, and granddaughter Gianely Rios and by her six sisters and two brothers.
Ernestina was planted on Earth to bloom in heaven, and she will be missed but not forgotten.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at
Saint Francis Catholic Church with Father Eduardo Jazo as celebrant. The
family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home;
Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents; Maria Gamboa & Elogio
Gamboa of Waco, TX, parents; Lucy Gamboa Romo & Cristino Casarez
Romo and brother, Cristino Romo, Jr.
Survivors include her immediate family: husband; Alfonso Ubiedo,
daughters; Juanita Lynn Rios and, Clarissa Ubiedo, son-in-law; Rafael Rios
and granddaughter; Gianely Rios. The Romo family includes; Lucy & Leo
Mancha of Round Rock, TX, Juanita Jackson of Waco, TX, Mary Lou &
Dave Nagy of Temple, TX, Delores & Henry Lopez of Waco, TX, Ernest &
Linda Romo of Waco, TX, Irene & Bill Soleymani of Euless, TX, Anna &
Ray Vargas of Waco, TX and Daniel & Gloria Romo of Nolanville, TX.
