Esperanza "Hope" Soto

A memorial service will be held at 7:00p.m., Tuesday, July 11, at Connally Compton Funeral Directors.

Hope was born in Limestone County, Texas on December 31, 1934 to Andres and Maria (Hernandez) Maciel. She grew up in Waco and was the second oldest of nine children. Hope was a member of Fuente De Bendicion for many years. She enjoyed dancing, listening to music and spending time with family and friends. Hope was well known for being very generous and friendly to anyone she came into contact with. Cooking was one of favorite things to do and was known for her enchiladas, menudo and Caldo De Res. Hope will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Pajedes Joe Soto; brothers, Trinadad and Joe Maciel and granddaughter, Briana Gomez.

Survivors include her children, Veronica Garcia, Debra Garcia and husband Andrew, and Louis Garcia, Jr. and wife Brenda; a grandson who she raised as a son, Byron Lee Garcia and wife Lori; three brothers; three sisters; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

The family wishes to thank Kindred hospice and staff especially Maria Munoz for their love and care of Hope. They would also like to thank Hope’s niece, Teresa Gonzales for her care and support.
