

August 2, 1919 – August 10, 2010
Irene Mosley Greenwood, 91, formerly of Waco, passed away after a long illness on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 in Houston. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 14, 2010 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors Chapel with Chaplain Ron Hill of Bluebonnet Health Services officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 13, 2010 at the funeral home.
Irene was born August 2, 1919 in Axtell to Lee and Lois Mosley. She graduated from Axtell High School where she enjoyed playing basketball and continued to play for W.A. Holt basketball team until an accident ended her basketball playing. Irene married Lawrence Greenwood in 1941 in Waco. She was his loving and faithful wife for 47 years until his death in 1988. She retired after 25+ years from HEB where she managed the Texas Gold Gift Center before her retirement.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband; Lawrence Greenwood; brothers, Bill Mosley and Boyce Mosley; sisters, Mary Jo Sustala, Tommie Copeland and Alyene Baisden who faithfully cared for Irene for a number of years.
Those left behind to cherish Irene’s memory are her daughter, Sammie Warhol of Houston; grandson, Jeff Warhol, currently in Afghanistan, and wife Monika and grandsons Krisztian Gelle and Jeffrey Warhol, all of Houston; sisters, Joyce Slough of Goodland, KS, and Freddie Anderson and husband Andy of Denton, TX; sister-in-law, Sindy Greenwood of Salado, TX; and many special nieces and nephews.
The family has selected the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Attn: Donor Services, PO Box 650309, Dallas, TX, 75265 or a charity of your choice for remembrances.
Pallbearers will be Mike Copeland, Steve Jensen, Alvin Mosley, Bill Mosley, Steve Mosley and Wendell Mosley.
