

Francisco “Frank” Sustaita, Jr., 80, passed away July 23, 2016. Graveside services will be held 10:00A.M., Wednesday, July 27, at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00P.M., with a prayer service at 7:00P.M., Tuesday, July 26, at Connally Compton Funeral Directors Chapel.
Frank was born March 1, 1936 in Elm Mott, Texas to Francisco and Guadalupe (Hernandez) Sustaita. His family were migrant workers which instilled his work ethics and pride of family. He was a lifelong Waco resident and a graduate of Waco Tech High school. He enlisted in the Texas National Guard where his unit was activated during the tornado that occurred May 11, 1953. Frank then enlisted in the US Army and served in Germany and other parts of the US.
During his church going days he was active in the Latin American United Methodist Church.
He was an active citizen in civil and community affairs and a founder of the Waco Child Development Center. He was also a longtime member of LULAC and held many positions in the organization. Frank was one the founders of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and was active with politics as a democrat. He was passionate about civil affairs, so much that he was involved as a plaintiff with the filing of a lawsuit about fair representation on the city council and school board.
Frank was the owner and operator of DFC Bookkeeping and Tax Services.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Alvina, Lupe, Mary, and Sarah; and step-son, Fabian Moreno.
Survivors include his daughters, Diane Sustaita, Francine Sustaita, and Christine Mireles and husband Martin; step-children, Linda Moreno, Isabella Ramos and husband Carlos, and Joseph Moreno; siblings, Manuel Sustaita, Rebecca Chavarria, and Linda Sustaita-Torres and husband Juan; his longtime friend and companion Rosalinda Silva and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, niece and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Sistrunk, Brian Sistrunk, Diego Mireles, Nathaniel Flores, Jacob Flores, David Saucedo, and Frank Perez. Honorary pallbearer will be Armando Casiano, Jr.
