Georgia Mary Martinez

Georgia Mary Martinez, 81, of Waco Texas, passed away on Sunday September 7th 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Visitation is from 6:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday September 10th, with Rosary at 7:00 PM at Connally Compton at 4400 W Waco Dr. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday September 11th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 2621 Bagby, Waco Texas 76711, with burial to follow at Waco Memorial Park 6623 Interstate 35 S Robinson, Texas 76706.

Mary was born February 11th, 1944 to Jesse and Georgia Espinoza. She attended St. Francis and Reicher Catholic schools. With the exception of 2 years in Detroit Michigan, she lived in Waco her entire life. She helped her parents in their restaurant business, as well as in area child daycares, but she was primarily dedicated to raising her 5 children and later with the many grandchildren she was blessed with.

Mary loved watching her children and grandchildren play ball, and rarely missed a game. She loved dogs and the family had many over the years, but she was especially fond of the two Ellies. A devoted Catholic, she listened to the rosary most mornings. Television news shows and soaps were a guilty pleasure that she enjoyed when not chasing after her many grandchildren she frequently watched after.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Georgia Espinoza, her brother Jay Ortiz, husband Lupe Martinez, and son Richard Martinez. She is survived by her brother Steve Espinoza, son Stevie, and daughters Yolanda, Sissy and Monica, as well as her 14 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and many aunts, cousins, nephews and nieces.

A fighter to the end, Mary’s family is grateful to Blue Bonnet Hospice for their dedicated care, and especially for all of her loved ones that came to her aid during her courageous battle.
