Glenda B. (Jones) Daywitt

July 26, 1936November 6, 2018

Glenda B. Daywitt (Memaw), daughter of the late Rev. N.J. and Sally Ellen Jones, was born July 26, 1936 in Katemcy, TX in Mason County. Glenda was united in marriage to Rev. Robert K. Daywitt on May 30, 1958 and they were blessed with three sons Danny, Stephen and Tim. Rev. Daywitt preceded her in death March 1, 2003. Glenda was an accomplished singer and musician as well as an outstanding Sunday school teacher. She had many talents and gifts which she used to serve God in ministry with her Parents and later with her husband as a minister’s wife. She poured herself into her family and church with passion and love. She had boundless energy and it is impossible to know the amount of peanut brittle she has made through the years to help support church causes. Glenda spent 13 years working at HEB in the Bakery as a cake decorator and she taught a Defensive Driving class at several locations in Waco for 25 years. She was very creative and enjoyed sewing, making floral arrangements and cake decorating. She was known for her wonderful pies, homemade dinner rolls and she inspired each of her boys to smoke the best barbeque brisket in Texas. She was lovingly known as Memaw to all of her grandchildren and created lots of loving memories with them. Glenda passed from this life on Monday, November 6, 2018 at Greene Place Assisted Living Facility in Seward, NE. She is preceded in death by her son, Daniel Jackson Daywitt, grandsons, Elijah Barr Daywitt and Zacharry Golter. Glenda’s life will always be remembered and cherished by her children: Rev. Just last week, I had a memory of sister Daywitt and with it was the Sunday school song “ I’m gonna let shine, this little light of mine.....,” this was of many from our Sunday class, led by Sister Daywitt. I sang this song for several hours, and wasn’t really sure where it came from at that moment.

Steve/ Tim - my heart is out for your loss. As I feel a loss from a wonderful woman and inspiration in my young adolescent life.

My condolences out to you and your families.

Always your friend and brother,

Mike Solomon,

I have many wonderful and lasting memories of this precious lady. Our families were very close as she and Robert were such good friends with my parents . I remember her wedding at the little church on Gould St. in Hillsboro. She helped my mom so much when my dad was in a serious car accident and hospitalized for weeks. She was our babysitter. She taught me how to make the best baked beans when I lived in Waco. I could go on and on about what an impact she had on my life with the example she lived. She was the sweetest person. I am saddened to hear of her passing but know she is rejoicing with Robert and my parents (and others) in heaven.

You were a very sweet, precious lady whom I met at one of your defensive driving classes. Later, my husband, Kenny and I started going to Stephen (Liticia) Daywitt’s church. God gained an Angel and we lost a lovely lady friend.

My memories of this lady, and her family, reach all the way back to the days at Texas Campmeeting when her parents, Bro. & Sis. Jones, did ‘kid’s church’ in the little chapel building. (Think I got in trouble once for fighting outside that chapel :>). Then Donna and I preached a revival for Bro . & Sis. Day Witt when they were in a storefront building in Bellmead. SO, we have eaten around her table. Her sweet presence was ALWAYS an annual part of my Campmeeting experience. Thanks Steve and Tim for sharing Mom. We love you all and are praying God’s comfort on you.
