Gloria was born August 6, 1923 in Waco, Texas to James Thomas and Mollissa Agnes (Webb) Main. She graduated from Waco High in 1941 and married the love of her life, James Houston Locke in 1947. Through her life she was active with the Heart of Texas Fine Arts Committee, Telephone Pioneers, SPJST, and CBI. Later on, after graduating nursing school, Gloria was a nurse for two Waco surgeons. Some of her many joys were spending time with her family, going to concerts, and football. Watching old movies and listening to music and an occasional shot of “yellow wine” were also some of her special interest. Gloria never knew a stranger and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Preceding Gloria in death was her parents, her husband of over 49 years, and her son, James Randall (Poodie) Locke. Those left to cherish her memory are daughter, Cindi Lou Locke of Austin; grandchildren, Ashley Dawn (Locke) Vincent and husband James Robert Vincent, Dillon Locke-Boles and husband, Dial Boles of Austin; and great-grand daughter Hanna Layne Vincent.

Every moment I spent with Mama Locke was special because we connected and I felt her love for me. Thank you Mama for that. I'm glad you liked the goodies I sent you from Hawaii and thanks for all those moments on stage next to you and drinking yellow wine in Poodies bus.

Mama Locke was such a spirited, brilliant, fun woman who had lived such a full life full of adventure and experience and she shared those stories. I know she really missed her husband, and her son Poodie, a lot. She's with them now. I will always remember her like it was yesterday. Love ya, Mama!!

Mama Locke was "Mama", to paupers and kings. Those that came within her arms, were her children. My heart and prayers are with Cindi Lou, Ashley, Dillion, and the entire adopted Mama Locke Family.
