

James Leonard Edmonds passed away after a lengthy illness. He was born in Lancaster Ohio and raised in Dennison, Ohio. He went Conotton Valley High School but quit high school in the 11th grade and enlisted in the United States Army. James left for boot camp and arrived at Fort Leonard Wood and was permanently stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas. After military service, he went back to work at Republic Steel in Massillon, Ohio as a millwright. From there he left and went to law school and became a Deputy Sheriff and dispatcher at the Holmes County Sheriff Department in Millersburg, Ohio. He then drove trucks for Truck Hauling at Aetna Freight in Warren, Ohio. Then drove for Baker Highway express of Dover, Ohio hauling iron, brick and lumber. James quit driving trucks and decided to move to Tampa, Florida where he worked in construction.
He was a life member of VFW of Lancaster, Ohio, DAV of Waco, Texas, Amvets 4077 of Denson, Ohio, member of the Confederate Veterans of Waco in Waco, Texas and a 13th year member of the American Legion of Elm Mott, Texas.
He was preceded in death by, Father, Herman Leonard Edmonds and mother, Juanna Bell Phillips, brother, Wayne Edmonds, sisters, Joyce Overholser, Linda Jean Edmonds.
Survived by, wife, Annalee Edmonds of 31 years, brother, Donald S. Edmonds and wife, Jody Edmonds of New Philadelphia, Ohio.
Children, James L. Edmonds Jr. and his wife Stephanie Edmonds of Millersburg, Ohio, Andrew C. Edmonds of Coshocton, Ohio, Jessica Edmonds of Wheeling, West Virginia, Megan Edmonds of Dennison, Ohio, Ashley Begay and her husband Gabriel Begay of Phoenix, Arizona, Nickole Weaver and her husband, David Weaver of Phoenix, Arizona and 17 grandchildren.
A graveside for James will be held Wednesday, January 29, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 TX-195, Killeen, TX 76542.
