

Mrs. Janie S. Lugo, 87, passed away at Baylor Regional Hospital of Plano on Saturday, July 18, 2015 after an extended battle with kidney disease.
She was born on December 9, 1927 in Waco to Jose and Felicitas Silva. She attended local schools and attained her GED through McLennan Community College. In her early career, she worked as a bilingual teacher’s aide for South Waco Elementary, but worked most of her life as a talented seamstress and was retired from Goldstein Miguel. She continued her passion for dress making and alterations at home for many years after.
She was a life-long parishioner of St. Francis Church where she was a member of the Third Order of St. Francis and past President of the Guadalapanas. Janie is remembered as a loving Mother, Aunt, Sister, Friend, and Ace Bingo Player and will be greatly missed by all.
She is preceded in death by her husband Charlie Sillers Lugo, Jr and her son Gabriel Lawrence Lugo. Survivors include her sister Delores Lopez of Waco; son Charlie Silva Lugo, III of Plano; two grandchildren, Catherine Elizabeth Lugo and Christopher Lawrence Lugo; two daughters-in-law, Lydia Lugo of Plano and Cira Lugo of Coppell.
Recitation of Rosary will be held on Wednesday, July 22nd at 7:00 p.m. at Connally/Compton Funeral Home in Waco. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis Church in Waco on Thursday, July 23rd at 10:00 a.m. with burial immediately following at Santa Cruz Cemetery near Riesel.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Lugo, Jose Soto, Jr, Tony Cortez, Steve Mercado, Philip Hernandez, and Larry Turner.
